Text Box: Shine Athletics started in May of 2007. We had signups, registration, and uniform fittings at a public library in Lake Mary and we rented practice space from a local middle school because the construction on our facility was not complete. We moved into our gym in August 2007 and December 2007 we attended our first competition with 4 cheer teams. By January 2008 we had 5 cheerleading teams and decided to expand the gym. April 2008 we won our first national title and closed our first season with 5 teams. We continued to grow the 2008-2009 season and ended the second season with 6 teams. In December 2009 we hosted the first ever Shine Athletics Showcase and started the Aubrey Wood Memorial Scholarship to benefit cheerleaders in need. The event had over 500 spectators and 11 cheer teams in attendance. We ended our third season in April 2010 with 7 cheer teams. In December 2010 we hosted the 2nd annual Shine Athletics Full Circle Showcase. We had 16 different cheer teams perform and over 750 spectators in attendance. As our 4th season comes to a close, we end with our largest and most successful year to date– with 8 competitive cheerleading teams. May 2011 was the beginning of our largest and 5th cheer season. We started the season with 7 year round teams. January 2012 brought two more half season teams– making our gym have 9 teams total. December 2011 was also our largest and most magical Shine showcase ever. 23 different cheer teams from across the Central Florida community performed together in the same gym– for one cause and one belief. Not only did we fill up a gym, we filled up hearts of over 1000 spectators and made everyone believe that together, we can make a difference! What once seemed an impossible dream, has now become a reality. Like we always say, sometimes you just have to “believe” Our goal as an All Star Cheer gym: To better all star cheerleading in Central Florida and better the cheerleading industry for all. All Star cheerleading has always been extremely exclusive and expensive in the Central Florida area. We were the first local gym to not have tryouts and to not turn kids away. We are still the lowest priced and we were the first gym in Seminole County to offer a half season program. We are the only gym that offers a scholarship program and the only gym that hosts a public cheerleading showcase. Change takes time- but we feel like we are on the right track. All the gyms in Central Florida have lowered their costs, almost all gyms in the area no longer hold tryouts, and almost all the gyms in the area advertise for half season teams. We never came into the industry to be like anyone else. We want to make a difference and we want Shine to be different. And that is what we continue to try do everyday. We strive to: Be able to offer the most positive & fun Cheerleading experience to every child that is a part of our program. We want everyone to be able to participate in our program because we truly believe that there is no better sport than cheerleading. All star Cheerleading is not just about winning trophies. There are times when every gym loses & times when every gym wins. Cheerleading is about teaching teamwork, dedication, and hard work to our Athletes. We want all cheerleaders and their parents to always know what's going on and to feel involved. As coaches & parents we must positively support each other and work together, to create the most positive cheerleading experience possible for our Athletes.
